Shelters Will Not Ask Evacuees About Immigration Status

On Monday, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner confirmed that shelters will not ask evacuees about their immigration status. He was concerned that people would not call 911 or evacuate to shelters because they were worried about Senate Bill 4. The City of Houston wishes to make it clear that no one will be turned away from any shelter because of immigration status. Everyone is welcome.
