Making a Difference One Home at a Time

This past weekend, about two dozen amazing volunteers gathered at a home in Beaumont to help Dottie McConnell rebuild her home after Hurricane Harvey. The team, including a few helpful youth, worked tirelessly to get donated sheetrock up on the walls.

Dottie is a single-parent and a senior citizen. She is a retired Texas public school teacher, who has spends much of her time volunteering at church. When Harvey struck, her home flooded for the first time in 28 years with 30 inches of water. Worse still, the flood waters remained for 4 days.

While we could not replace the memories and sentiments for Dottie, we were able to get the walls of her home back up. Now, thanks to the donations and a group of generous individuals, she is now on the road to getting her home and her life back in order.
